Cary Hatch is a branding and reputation management subject matter expert advising multi-billion-dollar B2B and consumer-facing businesses. Cary has led transformational initiatives and reputation advancement for public and privately held brands in domestic and global business environments. She also brings governance experience through her positions on association and non-profit boards, including advocacy and strategic leadership roles.
Cary has testified before Congress on the efficacy of communications to prevent veteran suicide and has advanced industry positions on responsible taxation. She served on the National Government Relations Committee of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4As), and the National Advertising Review Board (NARB) for the U.S. system of advertising industry self-regulation.
Cary successfully sold her firm, MDB Communications, in May 2022 and served as Senior Counsel at Hart MDB+, the DC office of the parent company Hart through 2024. Cary was the CEO of MDB, an independent, advertising agency which she purchased at the age of thirty. Her firm was recognized as an Inc. 500 firm and Blue-Chip Enterprise by the US Chamber of Commerce. Cary is a regularly featured speaker addressing branding, reputation management and entrepreneurship at national and regional industry conferences. She was recognized by the American Advertising Federation as a Silver Medal honoree and by the Washington Business Journal on the POWER 100 list of most influential leaders and Women Who Mean Business (Lifetime Achievement Honoree).
Cary has led domestic and international (RIMEA/Asia Pac) marketing programs for diverse industries including telecommunications, financial, gaming and hospitality/ tourism including clients such as Sprint International, Fannie Mae, National Geographic, and Loral Space & Communications. She has advised brands through transitional times including pre/post IPO marketing efforts and Chapter 11 reorganization.
Cary is an emeritus member of the $2B University System of Maryland Foundation Board (USMF), and served on the Washington Housing Conservancy Board and currently on the Whitman Walker Foundation Board. Cary also chaired the Mid-Atlantic Board of Governors for the 4As, was a trustee of the Federal City Council and served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Washington Board of Trade. She has participated in NACD corporate governance programs and completed the Deloitte Board Ready Program. Cary has a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland in Advertising and Public Relations.
