Connie D. Powell Nichols is a partner at Muck Wilson Mandala. With more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property, cybersecurity, data management, and data privacy, Connie brings unique experience to help clients protect their business. In addition to her successful legal practice, Connie teaches Intellectual Property, Information Privacy, E-commerce, and she directs the Intellectual Property & Entrepreneurship Clinic at Baylor Law School. Connie advises clients on employment policies regarding IP ownership, and she conducts marketing, advertising, and promotional reviews, including evaluating product warranties, as well as drafting contest and sweepstakes rules. Before attending law school, Connie graduated from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She graduated cum laude from the Indiana University School of Law and completed a fellowship in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion while in law school. In accordance with the organization’s commitments, Connie trains state, local, and municipal institutions on DEI. In addition, she holds board training sessions on ethics, privacy, and social media for government agencies, prepares social media guidelines and audits, reviews e-commerce contracts, including terms of service and privacy policies, and ensures compliance with the Online Protection Privacy Protection Act, California Consumer Privacy Act, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule, and the General Data Protection Regulations. When she is not teaching or practicing law, Connie enjoys time with her teenage son who will be starting college in the fall of 2022. She also enjoys hiking Cameron Park’s trails as well as participating in community and church activities and supporting Habitat for Humanity.
